Q. What do you mean by Permanent Residence?
Permanent Residence in Canada visa grants permission to its holder to live and work lawfully anywhere in Canada. It gives you an access to many of Canada's social programs such as: healthcare, subsidized education, Unemployment etc.

Q. Do I and my family members require a passport? Yes, you and your family must have valid international passports in order for you to be issued Permanent Residence in Canada visas.

Q. Can I include my family members or dependent to
Canada in my application for Permanent Residence in Canada?
Yes, your spouse and your children 22 years of age and under may be included in your application for Permanent Residence in Canada. Your children over the age of 22 years may still be considered your dependents provided that they are full time students and financially dependent upon you.

Q. What if I immigrate to
Canada first and then apply for my family members and dependents to join me?
Yes, you may establish yourself in Canada before your dependents join you. Your dependents must, however, arrive in Canada before the expiry date indicated on their visa.

Q. Can I have my visa for Permanent Residence in
Canada extended once it is issued to me?
No. Under no circumstances may your visa for Permanent Residence in Canada be extended once it has expired.

Q. Will a close relative in
Canada help in any way?
A close blood relative who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident allows for the award of 5 additional points.

Q. What are the requirements to maintain my permanent resident status in
Canada? Yes, you must reside in Canada for a minimum of two years out of every five year period to maintain your permanent residence in Canada status.

Q. What are the criteria for obtaining Canadian citizenship?
You may apply for Canadian citizenship after you have been physically present in Canada for 3 years out of 4 years prior to your application. As Canada recognizes dual-citizenship you may be able to retain the citizenship of your homeland.

Q. How much time will the application for Permanent Residence in
Canada take?
The average processing time varies depending on the Canadian Embassy. It may take between 12 to 24 months for the processing of your application for Permanent Residence in Canada once you have submitted it to the appropriate Canadian Embassy.

Q. Is there any fee which is required to be paid along with the application Permanent Residence in
Canada?
Yes, there is a Filing fee in the amount of CD$550 for the principal applicant and each dependent over the age of 22 and CD$150 for dependents under the age of 22. This fee is NOT refundable in the event that your application is not accepted. There is also a Right of Landing fee in the amount of CD$975 which applies to you and each dependent 22 years of age and over. This fee is refundable in the event that you are not able to land in Canada for whatever reason.

Q. Are there any other financial requirements?
Yes, you must have sufficient settlement funds to support yourself and your family for at least 6 months after your arrival in Canada.

Q. Do I have to attend an interview with a visa officer?
With a thorough and accurate presentation of your application for Permanent Residence in Canada you increase your chances of obtaining an interview waiver. This is possible since the selection criteria are objective in nature.

Q. What is required to apply for Permanent Residence in
Canada under the Skilled Worker category?
You must have at least one year of continuous full-time employment experience in one or more occupations that are listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Levels A or B of the National Occupational Classification matrix. You must also score a minimum of 67 points on a number of factors designed by the Canadian immigration authorities to assess your chances of successfully establishing yourself economically in Canada.

Q. Do I require licensing & registration to get a job in
Canada?
Depending on the occupation that you intend to pursue in Canada you may wish to have your credentials assessed in order to determine whether you meet your profession's licensing requirements.
