1. INDEPENDENT SELECTED WORKERS OR QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS:

Most independent immigrants are skilled workers, who are expected to have the skills, education, work experience, language ability and other qualities needed to participate in the Canadian labour market. The selection criteria, known as the "point" system, focus on occupation, education and training, skills,  experience, age, employability  and knowledge of English and/or French. Bonus points are given if relatives in Canada are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Independent applicants must score a minimum of 67 points based on their personal skills and characteristics to qualify for an immigration visa.  Please note that obtaining 67 points or more does not mean that you will be automatically accepted.  Ultimately, the visa officer must be satisfied that you are qualified for an immigration visa.   The visa officer does have discretion to refuse your immigrant visa even when you receive more than 67 points, if in the visa officer's opinion there are good reasons that points do not accurately reflect your prospects for successful establishment in Canada. The selection criteria considered by the visa officer consist of the following six factors and point system:-

Background:
World markets are in transformation and offer varied trade, technology and investment opportunities for Canadian businesses. International economic development and investment flows will increasingly affect Canadian lives and set the pace for global economic change.  The export sector has been the most dynamic element recently in stimulating economic growth in Canada. The fastest-growing new sectors for Canadian export include chemicals, communications equipment, computer software and specialized services.   The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with the United States and Mexico came into force on January 1, 1994. The NAFTA improves access to these countries for Canadian goods and services and guarantees Canada's position as a prime location for investors seeking to serve the entire North American continent.

With its great natural resources, skilled labour force, and modern capital plant, Canada, as an affluent, high-tech industrial society, has excellent economic prospects.

The role of immigrants in Canadian business:
Canada's diversity is increasingly recognized as an asset in both the domestic and  international market, and as a major contributing factor to Canadian economic prosperity. Canadians who came here as immigrants have gained international acclaim in the business world and continue to make decisive contributions to Canada's wealth and prosperity.   According to data compiled by Canadian Heritage:

  • in 1988, they brought some $6 billion to Canada;

  • they are 50 per cent more likely to be self-employed than other Canadians;

  • they save more, thereby expanding the pool of investment capital available in the country;

  • they tend to consume less in public services, and few of them receive social assistance;

  • immigrants have higher than average incomes and higher wages, therefore they pay more in taxes.

As a result of these contributions, far from being a drain on Canadian wealth, the average immigrant headed household effectively transfers about $210 annually to the Canadian born population.

Professional degrees of many foreign institutions for professionals such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Veterinary, Dental Surgery and many other fields are not at par with the Canadian institutions. Both part time as well as regular courses are available in the universities and colleges in Canada. Since the qualifications do not match the Canadian standards and new immigrants do not have Canadian experience, they may have to work at a lower designation as compared to the designation they had in their country of residence. Engineers may have to work as Technicians, Dental Surgeons may have to work as Dental Technicians and Veterinarians as Animal Health Technologists.

HOW WE CAN HELP:

Canadian immigration law can be a daunting subject. The evaluation process for determining an applicant's eligibility is quite complex. The visa application process for permanent residence is not simple and straightforward. A few are ever prepared to navigate the process alone. That's why professional representation makes all the difference.

The immigration policies, rules and procedures change frequently. Failure to properly evaluate the applicant's eligibility and/or failure to complete all the necessary forms accurately and to provide all the necessary supporting documentation and information can result in delays and potentially rejection of these applications.

After the initial assessment, Pahl & Associates will tell you what your chances for success in a frank and straightforward manner. If you do not wish to continue, you are under no obligation to do so. If we tell you that your application would most likely be rejected by Immigration Canada, you have just saved the additional cost of applying to the Canadian Embassy.

On the other hand, if we tell you that your application would most likely be accepted by Immigration Canada, then you have the option of retaining our services. We appreciate that at this stage you are also free to apply without our help, however as immigration may be the most important decision of your life, retaining Pahl & Associates can increase your chances for success.

Fees. Every person is unique, and every set of circumstances varied. We charge fairly based on the individual facts, the urgency and complexity of each situation, and the anticipated time and skill required to achieve your goals.

We structure fees in advance in a flexible manner. Instead of burdening our clients with the "clock-is-always-running" notion, our fees are often made - by installments - on a full-service, fixed-fee basis. We want you to be absolutely certain in advance of the actual costs involved, with the assurance of all the personal attention you need for your individual case.

Remember a professional representative with current knowledge of the procedures and regulations can properly serve the interest of his clients and ensure successful processing of the application leading to the client, securing immigration visa for the client and the client's dependents.

Pahl & Associates works with you to develop practical immigration strategies. We can reduce or overcome your immigration obstacles, and ultimately help you realise your immigration dreams by opening doors to new beginnings in Canada.
